Saving Lives with Clean Drinking Water
PakPani is dedicated to providing drinking water to the needy in Pakistan.
Millions of people in Pakistan lack access to clean drinking water.
Poor infrastructure and a lack of investment mean that access to this most basic amenity is an everyday struggle for millions.
Making a difficult situation almost impossible, the effects global warming have left even more people lacking access to safe, hygienic drinking water through the increased occurrence of drought and floods. To understand the scale of the challenge, floods in 2010 affected more people than both the Asian tsunami and Haiti earthquake combined.
For those that survive these natural disasters, the secondary effects can often be just as dangerous. Life threatening diseases such as diarrhoea, hepatitis and typhoid are prevalent, particularly amongst the young and elderly.
